The current UFC Middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, announced his readiness to hold a super fight with the current UFC light heavyweight title holder Jan Blachowicz.
“Won’t you guys be too mad if I go up and get the light heavyweight belt in a hurry?”, Adesanya tweeted, posting a gif of “Rock” Johnson under the title “it doesn’t matter what you think”.
Thus, the UFC champion once again hurt Jon Jones, almost verbatim repeating the phrase uttered by the world’s best fighter after the fight for the vacant UFC light heavyweight championship belt between Jan Blachowicz and Dominic Reyes.
Recall that two weeks ago, Israel Adesanya held the second successful defense of the UFC championship belt in the Middleweight category, finishing with a technical knockout in the second round of Paulo Costa. It is assumed that the next opponent of the champion should be the winner of the Challenger match between Robert Whittaker and Jared Cannonier, which will take place on October 24 at UFC 254 in Las Vegas.
The former UFC champion refused to fight Khamzat Chimaev
Former UFC Middleweight title holder Chris Weidman has joined the list of top fighters who do not want to risk their place in the ranking and take a fight with the rising star of the organization Khamzat Chimaev.
The Chechen finisher told his fans on Twitter.
“I just want to let my fans and people who support me know – I was offered a fight with vanderboy in the Welterweight division, but He refused, and in the Middleweight category, Chris Wideman rejected the fight with me. I’m going after everyone!”, – Chimaev wrote.
In the previous fight, 36-year-old Chris Wideman, who is ranked ninth in the UFC Middleweight rankings, broke a series of two early defeats by knockouts, defeating Omari Akhmedov by unanimous decision.
26-year-old Khamzat Chimaev, who won three early victories in the UFC in two months, should enter the octagon in November as a headliner of the event.
